I have a lot of information to share with all club members. I will start with the Charleston Classic Update. We are well underway in our efforts to provide another great event on December 6-8, 2013. Innova has agreed to be our presenting sponsor for the event. There will be a mandatory check-in meeting at Castaways on James Island Friday Dec 6th starting around 5:00 PM. This will also double as the player’s party for the event. Dynamic Discs has agreed to run a random start time C tier PDGA event on Friday the 6th. Carolina Water Sports at Trophy Lakes is another major sponsor for the event and the tournament will be held at Hampton Park and the Trophy Lakes courses. The event will be run by Tournament Director Mike Thompson and assistant Jonas Card. The field will be split between the 2 courses to allow for more players. Food will be provided both days by Shakedown Catering. The flyer will be released in the next couple weeks. Registration will be available around October 1st. I will try and get the flyer out to all of the club members first so you will have a good chance to get into the event. It will fill up quickly, so do not wait. I am attaching a sponsor letter to this e-mail. We need your help in getting event sponsors for the Classic. Please read it and see if you know anyone that could help us.
The James Island Vikings are having the 3rd annual Movember event at Trophy Lakes. This Captain’s Choice charity disc golf event helps raise money for different cancer support organizations each year. The plan is to have a captain’s choice round for prizes followed by a singles round of competition for anyone interested. The flyer is attached to this e-mail. Sign up your team today. There will be food, drinks and live music all happening on November 9th at Trophy Lakes.
We will also be hosting a club disc golf event at Hampton Park the day after Movember on Nov 10th. This will be the only time to practice the Hampton course prior to the Classic. We will need everyone to bring out their disc golf baskets early so we can setup the course and get playing. There will be a small entry fee for those that wish to compete. More details coming soon, but put both events on your calendar.
North Charleston Parks and Recreation is hosting an 18 hole Turkey Day Shootout at Park Circle on November 23rd. The flyer is attached. Hope to see you there for a 1 round event with some great prizes available. Each person gets a tee shirt for signing up.
We still need volunteers for the classic. Let us know if you can help with anything on the weekend of the Classic. All volunteers get a player’s pack and free lunch on the day that they help out.
The James Island County Park now has 18 permanent baskets installed. They are working on some course clean-up to make it more playable. This winter should be a great season at the James Island course. Have you played it yet? Go check it out!
Let me know if you have any questions about the club or our upcoming events. See you on the links disc golfers!
